Some roads across Barbados will soon be better lit following a donation of 180 solar lamps from the Hunan Province of the People's Republic of China to the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW).
According to the City office, over 1,000 solar street lights installed in the metropolis have already been replaced with 'smart' electric street lights and an equal number of remaining solar street lights will be replaced within the next two months.
Solar street lights can work for 2 to 7 rainy days depending on battery size and panel quality. Quality monocrystalline solar panels capture more sunlight even on cloudy days.
Designed for rapid deployment, these “solar-in-a-box” units integrate all essential power-generation and storage components into a compact, transportable structure.
