For these purposes, energy storage stations (ESS) are receiving increasing attention.
Pumped hydrostorage and compressed air energy storage, which are the most common forms of physical energy storage, are relatively mature technologies. However, pumped hydrostorage require strict geographical conditions and is not highly efficient.
In, the ratio of GFL to GFM energy storage was established based on the constraint of the short-circuit ratio. It was found that GFM should account for no less than 30% of the total capacity. However, this study did not provide exact numerical values.
