The electrochemical energy storage system uses lithium batteries with high cost performance, which can simultaneously play two key roles in balancing the energy input system and the adjustment of the system output power, and is a key link in the stable operation of the “photovoltaic + energy storage” power station (see Fig. 2). The results show that the 50 MW “PV + energy storage” system can achieve 24-h stable operation even when the sunshine changes significantly or the demand peaks, maintain the balance of power supply of the grid, and save a total of 1121310.388 tons of CO2 emissions during the life cycle of the system.
The battery design of the electrochemical energy storage system adopts 3.2 V/220Ah lithium-ion battery. The system is arranged by 18 battery cells in series and 90 battery cells in parallel, with a total number of 1620 cells.
