Large LiFePO4 cells, typically in the 320Ah-280Ah range, are becoming more popular with some battery manufacturers as they are a more cost-effective cell solution. These cells are widely used for automotive applications due to their higher energy density and lower cost per kilowatt-hour. These larger cells can store more energy with fewer cells.
LiFePO4 cells, like those around 100Ah, are one of the most popular in smaller modular 5kWh ESS batteries due to their versatility and adaptability. These smaller cells are easier to handle and configure, making them ideal for modular systems where customization and scalability are key.
Cylindrical cells have been in the EV space for many years; they're not too different from the AA batteries we're all familiar with as consumers, albeit with much higher energy densities. They have a durable, can-like structure that offers mechanical stability and safety.
