The PV inverters theoretically can be developed as reactive power supporters, the same as the static compensators (STATCOMs) that the industrial standards do not address . Typical PV inverters are designed to be disconnected at night. Alternatively, it is possible to use its reactive power capability when there is no active power generation.

The idle behaviour reduces the efficiency of the PV inverter. However, if there is a mechanism to use such inverters in a different way at night, its efficiency can be increased.
Now for the Real Power / True power (i.e. NOT EnviR / Clamp device Apparent Power is displays as True Power). My inverter consumes 0.38W when shut down of a night, my Watt meter showed it as 0.4W and the EnviR shows it as 37W. Ignore your basic clamp meter devices when looking at your inverter consumption of a night.
Certain inverters are designed to operate in volt-ampere reactive (VAR) mode during the night. Yet, this approach is ineffective due to the consumption of active power from the grid (as internal losses) and the regulation necessity of the direct-current (DC) bus.
In addition, the needs of additional generators can also be addressed by providing extra reactive power, offering an additional source of income. In order for the PV system to also be able to feed in reactive power at night, the inverter must be fitted with the "Q at Night" option.
