In Gothenburg we are shaping the new battery industry. In the coming years Gothenburg and West Sweden will have in place two battery gigafactories, with major investments being made by public and private actors, including Volvo Cars and the Volvo Group. The region is set to become an important hub for both battery development and production.
Additional battery assembly facilities are located in Berlin, Germany, and Troy, Ohio, USA. Micropower introduced the Lionbrix concept in 2017 and has since, successfully scaled production and supplied leading industrial OEMs with advanced Lithium-Ion battery solutions.
The batteries are manufactured in-house at the state-of-the-art factory in Växjö, Sweden, utilizing automated production lines to ensure exceptional quality and scalability for industrial volumes. Additional battery assembly facilities are located in Berlin, Germany, and Troy, Ohio, USA.
Micropower's Lithium-Ion battery systems enable complete system communication and seamless integration with electric vehicles and machines, offering robust safety features at all levels, including cell-level protection, mechanical safeguards, and advanced functionality within the BMS itself.
Reskilling and upskilling initiatives for the region's new battery industry are also underway. Among them is a unique education and training centre which has opened in Gothenburg, specifically for the battery value chain. Around 7,000 people will be trained in state-of-the-art facilities between 2024 and 2029.
