The most common lithium-ion battery cell sizes may include cylindrical, prismatic, and pouch cells. They all come with different dimensions and characteristics. The li ion battery cell sizes have wide applications in several electronic devices. These applications may include LED art, digital watches, automobile remotes, or computer motherboards.
Due to the round shape, the packing density of electrically connected cylindrical LIB is lower than the packing density of prismatic LIB. In terms of safety, the housing stability of the cylindrical and the hard-case cell is considerably higher than the pouch cell housing, which requires additional housing stability as part of a battery system.
There are three main mainstream lithium battery packaging forms, namely cylindrical, prismatic, and lithium polymer.
