Photovoltaic solar panels installed on cars in Mauritania

The facility is responsible for 10% of Mauritania's grid capacity. It generates 25,409 megawatt-hours of renewable electricity per year and displaces approximately 21,225 tons of CO2. The plant's almost 30,000 solar panels, manufactured by Masdar PV, provide electricity to more than 10,000 houses in Nouakchott.

Considering that the space available for PV panels on a normal car is limited, it emerges that the net power achievable by a solar panel (about 200 − 300 W) is about two order of magnitude less than the power of modern cars.

Results showed that the parking phases are the most critical, where the increase in the photovoltaic panels temperature to a sensible reduction of their efficiency.
